#topalwaysdown was an idea I had late one night after spontaneously purchasing a domain name. Not quite realising what I was supposed to do with the domain name, I decided on a simple website and blog, somewhere to post items relating to my own S2000 or anything of interest about other roadsters, and the enjoyment of roofless motoring.
Me and the S2000:
I'm James Sutlow. I'm 27, I'm from Somerset and I work in accounts. I'm living the dream. After five years of messing about with fun but flimsy French hatchbacks, in February 2012 I bought what I had long considered my 'realistic dream car', the S2000. Everything now feels complete. It ticks every box I want it to. There's the sharp and aggressive exterior design, the beautifully ergonomic cockpit, the seamless 'Jeckyl and Hyde' F20C up front, subtle when it needs to be but screaming all the way to 9000rpm when necessary and the pleasure of hearing it hit the VTEC sweet spot with the roof folded back under the tonneau. Bliss.
The car I bought is a MY2000 pre-facelift UKDM AP1 finished in the bold New Formula Red. It's more or less standard, other than a few very minor add ons, exactly what I had been looking for. It came with the added bonus of a full sports pack, including front bumper lip, low level boot spoiler and seemingly very rare side strakes. Parts which together with the OEM CD changer would have cost the original owner in excess of £2000 to spec!
It's a fairly high miler, now touching the 108k mark, but there's plenty of life left in a well looked after S2000 at this point and it seemed the sensible thing to do given my 12k mile a year commute, and some of the roadtrips I've got planned for it.
Further developments will be detailed in the blog section, but rough plans involve a slight drop, some Enkei wheels and thousands of #topalwaysdown miles across the UK and the continent.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy what's to come!
